Grab The Popcorn, AMC Columbia Has Reopened

Moviegoers must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth, and fits snugly over cheeks and chin unless eating or drinking.

COLUMBIA, MD — AMC Columbia 14 has reopened and is now showing movies. Seven AMC movie theaters in total opened across Maryland this week after being closed for almost six months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

AMC Theatres had expressed concerns about staying afloat if movie theaters remained closed, but Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan allowed movie theaters to reopen as of Sept. 4 while the state moved into stage three of its recovery roadmap.

AMC has 1,000 locations around the globe with more than 11,000 screens, according to its website. The company reports that most of its theaters are open, local guidelines permitting. The Columbia theater has reopened under its AMC Safe & Clean policy that states all guests must wear masks that cover their nose and mouth and fits snugly over cheeks and chin unless eating or drinking. The following types of face coverings are not allowed in the theater: neck gaiters; masks with valves, vents or holes; and open-chin bandannas. Those who do not have the appropriate face covering can buy a mask at the theater for $1.
