Gun, Bomb Threat At River Hill HS Determined To Be A Hoax, Police Continue Investigation

A gun and bomb threat phoned in Tuesday afternoon to River Hill H.S. was determined to be a hoax but police are continuing an investigation.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A gun and bomb threat made via phone Tuesday afternoon targeting River Hill High School in Clarksville has been declared a hoax, but officers will continue to investigate the situation, the Howard County Police Department stated Wednesday morning.

The high school went into lockdown about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday when the threat was made. Officers searched the high school after receiving the phone call threat of a student with a gun and bomb.

Shortly after 5 p.m., police announced that the building had been cleared and no danger had been located.

"Officers did not locate an actual danger at the school and all students and staff were evacuated safely. A few students were temporarily detained during the police search, which is standard safety protocol in an emergency incident. None of the students detained was involved in the threat and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation into the source of the threatening phone call remains active," the police department stated.
