Harpers Farm Businesses Damaged by Fire: Officials

One business reopened after Fourth of July blaze in Columbia, as others undergo extensive remodeling, Howard County officials say.

Columbia, MD — One of two businesses impacted by the Fourth of July fire on Harpers Farm Road has reopened, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

The cause of the blaze, which affected Lynn's Day Spa and DaVita Dialysis in the 5900 block of Harpers Farm Road, remained under investigation Wednesday, officials reported.

The dialysis center opened Tuesday morning after a thorough cleanup as mandated by the Howard County Health Department and in consultation with the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality.

"The professional offices above the day spa where the fire started will require extensive remodeling before re-opening," Howard County fire and rescue officials said in a statement Wednesday.

Restoration and cleanup crews remained on-site to assist.
