HCPSS Hosts Workshops For Incoming Kindergartners
The workshops will be held Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 in Columbia and Jan. 30 in Ellicott City. They began at 6:30 p.m.
COLUMBIA, MD — Parents who have incoming kindergartners for the 2020-2021 school year will want to attend the Road to Kindergarten workshops hosted by the Howard County Public School System Jan. 22, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30. Parents need only to attend one workshop.
At the workshop, parents/guardians will learn:
- Expectations for school readiness (and receive a Ready for Kindergarten toolkit)
- Details about the kindergarten program
- Information about HCPSS kindergarten registration
- Ways that families and children can be supported during the transition to kindergarten
Sessions are for adults only and child care is available for children ages two and older. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to allow time for parking, child care drop off and check-in. Sessions begin promptly at 6:30. They will be held:

- Wednesday, Jan. 22, Hammond High School, 8800 Guilford Road, Columbia (Spanish interpreter present)
- Thursday, Jan. 23, Oakland Mills High School, 9410 Kilimanjaro Road, Columbia (Spanish interpreter present)
