HCPSS Kindergarten Enrollment Opens March 6

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Kindergarten enrollment is fast approaching. Registration for the 2023-2024 school year begins March 6. Parents/guardians of children who will be five on or before Sept. 1, 2023, must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year.

To begin the enrollment process, complete the online registration form. While completing the online registration form, parents/guardians also can upload the required documents. Your child’s school will contact you to schedule a meeting to complete the registration process. During this meeting, you will be asked to verify parental relationships and submit any additional required documentation.

If your child is of the age to attend kindergarten but you believe that a delay in school attendance is in your child’s best interest, per Board of Education Policy 9000 Implementation Procedures – Student Enrollment, you can exempt them from mandatory school attendance for one year by completing a kindergarten waiver form.

Current HCPSS prekindergarten students do not need to be reregistered for kindergarten because they are already enrolled as an HCPSS student.
