HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Howard County Public School System's board of education community advisory council seeks volunteers to serve on its executive committee for the 2021-2022 school year. The council serves as the liaison between the board of education and the community at large, meets monthly during the school year and reports directly to the education board.
The executive committee gathers from the community their concerns, information and inquiries about matters within the province of the board and researches issues as appropriate. Nominees are being sought for council chair, 1st vice chair, 2nd vice chair, secretary and policy committee chair.
According to the school district, successful candidates should be reliable, be able to lead discussions and be comfortable with public speaking. Anyone interested in serving in any of the roles should contact the nominating committee by March 8 at hcpsscacnominatingcommittee@gmail.com. In order to be considered, an individual should already be a council member or must attend the March 17 meeting in order to be voted in as a member prior to the election meeting on April 14.
