Kittleman, Ball Rematch Likely In Howard County Executive Race

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Polls are now closed in Howard County, where voters cast their ballots for everything from governor to County Council, executive, sheriff and school board.

Vote totals from the Howard County election office reported Allan H. Kittleman led the county executive race among the Republican candidates with 94.52 percent of the votes. Calvin Ball claimed 86.47 percent of the votes among the two Democratic candidates.

For District 1, Sean J. McCurdy ran unopposed as the Republican candidate while Elizabeth "Liz" Walsh captured 68.70 percent of the votes for the Democrats.

For District 2, Republican candidate Sheila P. Jennifer ran unopposed as did Democratic candidate Opel Jones.

For District 3, Republican candidate William H. Campbell ran unopposed as did Democratic candidate Christiana Rigby.

In District 4, Janssen Evelyn pulled ahead of the pack with 50.28 percent of the votes for the Democratic candidates.

In District 5, David Yungmann ran unopposed as the Republican candidate as did Democratic candidate Joan U. Pontius.

Election officials closed the lines to vote Tuesday at 8 p.m. Anybody in line by that time is allowed to vote. Polling locations will close when everybody in line has voted. Maryland will only release the results for statewide races when every polling place in the state has closed. That means there are not yet any results available in the governor's race.
