HoCo Neighbor Ride Now Accepting Vehicle Donations
Neighbor Ride, which offers free transportation services to seniors in Howard County, has established a vehicle donation program.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Maryland nonprofit Neighbor Ride has created a vehicle donation program to help fund new and existing programs that serve older adults in Howard County. Such programs include volunteer-driven transportation for medical appointments, shopping, wellness activities, social engagements and other activities, along with the delivery of food and durable medical equipment to those who are homebound or vulnerable.
According to Neighbor Ride, all a donor has to do is fill out a vehicle donation form or call the organization's vehicle donations program at 1-855-527-2232. Schedule a vehicle pickup at a time and place that works for the donor and then receive an IRS tax deductible recipt.
The organization noted on its website that it will accept vehicles of all ages and conditions, but they must have an engine and be towable. Donations also aren't limited to just cars. The nonprofit will accept donations of boats, motorcycles, and trucks, too.

If a vehicle is registered in Maryland, the license plates of a donated vehicle should be removed before being picked up and returned to the MVA unless the plates are being transferred to another vehicle.
