Home Invasion, Knifepoint Robbery, Wine Burglar: Columbia Crime

Two people were robbed in two separate Columbia parking lots over the weekend, Howard County police reported.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A man was hospitalized after being assaulted and robbed in a business parking lot in the 6000 block of Foreland Garth. The suspect took the victim's cash, then fled around 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.

The front door lock was pried at Absolute Wine and Spirits in the 10400 block of Twin Rivers Road around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23. Nothing was taken, as the suspect(s) failed to get into the store.

A man was robbed at knifepoint in a parking lot in the 10700 block of Hickory Ridge Road. Cash was stolen from the victim, who had been walking at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22.

A group of individuals was arrested in connection with a home invasion in the 9600 block of Hingston Downs at 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Four Montgomery County residents, ages 15 to 20, were charged with burglary, home invasion and other offenses after they allegedly forced their way into a residence and assaulted the victim. Nothing was stolen, there were no serious injuries and police found the suspects — who were acquaintances of the victim — nearby.

A camera and earrings were stolen from the 6000 block of Majors Lane overnight between Friday, Oct. 21, and Saturday, Oct. 22. There were no signs of forced entry.

Leasing office employees found a man inside a vacant apartment at 4:25 p.m.on Friday, Oct. 21, in the 4800 block of Circling Hunter Drive. Nothing was reported stolen.

A purse, keys and a 2016 Honda Civic were stolen from the 7100 block of Willow Way sometime between 2:30 and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.
