How Much Snow Did Columbia Get?

Preliminary reports are in from snowfall on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

The region’s first significant snowfall of 2015 occurred Tuesday, when Columbia was under a winter weather advisory.

Here’s how much came down, according to unofficial reports from the National Weather Service:

  • 2.5 inches in Columbia; observation taken at 10:50 a.m.
  • 2.3 inches in Columbia; observation taken at 10:45 a.m.

Notably, both measurements were taken in the morning, and snow continued to shower down through the afternoon.

Around the county, these afternoon measurements were taken: Ellicott City reported 3.5 inches at 3 p.m.; Scaggsville reported 3.5 inches at 3:30 p.m.; and Savage had 2.5 inches at 4:30 p.m., according to the weather service.

The most snow in Maryland reportedly fell in Frostburg, which received 5 inches.
