Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Columbia early on Sept. 10.
At approximately 2:32 a.m., a 2012 Mack truck and trailer was traveling northbound on Snowden River Parkway past Oakland Mills Road when it struck a woman in the roadway. The victim, 47-year-old Shelley Denise Battle of Columbia, was transported to Howard County General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mack truck was uninjured and remained on scene. The collision remains under investigation.
