Howard County Government: Victim In Jan. 19 Shooting In Columbia Dies; Police Increase Reward

Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the case.

The victim in the Jan. 19 shooting in Columbia, 21-year-old Zavian Hagins, has died. Howard County police are increasing their reward for information in the case to up to $5,000. 

Police responded late Jan. 19 to a footpath near the 5200 block of Eliots Oak Road where they found Hagins, of Columbia, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital in critical condition and died Jan. 29. 

Detectives do not believe the shooting was random. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDCrimeTips@howardcountymd.gov. You may remain anonymous.
