Howard County Offices To Close Christmas Day, Trash Delayed
Government offices, centers and shelters will be closed Dec. 25. Trash pickup will be delayed and RTA buses will not run Christmas Day.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Howard County government offices, animal shelter, 50+ centers, Alpha Ridge Landfill, Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, Gary J. Arthur, North Laurel and Roger Carter Community Centers, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Robinson Nature Center, Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum and county historic sites will be closed on Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.
There will be no trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap pick-up on Christmas Day either, so the county’s holiday slide schedule will be in effect, which means Wednesday's pickup will be on Thursday, Thursday's on Friday and Friday's on Saturday. Additionally, while county park gates will be open, there will be no staff on duty Dec. 25.
While most Howard County government offices will be open normal business hours on Dec. 24, the Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, Gary J. Arthur, North Laurel and Roger Carter Community Centers and Meadowbrook Athletic Complex will close early that day at 5 p.m. The county historic sites, Robinson Nature Center and the Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum will be closed on Christmas Eve. The Alpha Ridge Landfill also will close early Dec. 24 at 2 p.m.

The Regional Transportation Agency (RTA) buses will operate on a limited schedule Dec. 24 and will not run Dec. 25. Howard County parking fees will not be enforced Dec. 25. County offices will reopen at regular business hours Dec. 26.
