Howard County Public School System Makes Weather Announcement

Classes will be impacted by winter weather on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The Howard County Public School System canceled classes on Tuesday, Jan. 27, issuing the following statement:

All Howard County public schools are closed today, Tuesday, January 27.

All evening activities in schools, both school-sponsored and community-sponsored, are canceled. This includes high school athletic practices and games.

The region is under a winter weather advisory for snow until 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Howard County government is operating on liberal leave Tuesday.

Snowfall is expected to continue through mid-morning, with 0.5 to 1 inch of additional accumulation falling between 5 and 10 a.m., particularly in northwest, southeast and central Howard County, according to the weather service.

Roads, bridges and overpasses may be slippery. The Maryland Transportation Authority advised allowing extra time for those who need to hit the road Tuesday.
