Indecent Exposure, Ride-Sharing Ambush, Airbag Thief: Columbia Crime

Burglar gets into house with garage door opener and other crimes recently reported to the Howard County Police Department.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A man was robbed in the 8800 block of Stanford Boulevard by four people claiming to be affiliated with a ride-sharing service. At 2:08 a.m. on June 22, the man got into the vehicle and a quartet of men assaulted him and stole his wallet. He got out of the vehicle and had no serious injuries.

A home was burglarized using the garage door opener. A vehicle was broken into in the 7400 block of First League, then the door opener was used to access the garage. Landscaping equipment from the garage and a coupon book from the vehicle were stolen. The burglary occurred at 9:35 a.m. on June 21.

A Columbia man was charged with indecent exposure. The 22-year-old from the 4900 block of Columbia Road allegedly exposed himself behind a woman's residence in the 5100 block of Columbia Road at 5:25 a.m. on June 21.

Two men picked up three acquaintances in their vehicle when the acquaintances assaulted the victims and took a cell phone and wallet. The case may be drug-related. The robbery happened at 12:35 p.m. on June 20 in the area of Sealed Message Road and Bellfall Court.

Four boys ages 16 to 17 years old are suspected in a robbery on a footpath near the 8900 block of Tamar Drive. At 4:16 p.m. on June 20, a man was walking along the footpath when one suspect assaulted him, another tackled him and they stole his headphones.

An airbag was stolen from a vehicle in the 7000 block of Gentle Shade Road. The theft was reported after 7 a.m. on June 20.
