Industrial Accident Kills Driver In Jessup: Police

A man making a delivery in Jessup Friday died in the process, according to Howard County police.

JESSUP, MD — A man was killed in an industrial accident in Jessup Friday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department.

At 8:15 a.m., authorities said they were called to a business in the 7700 block of Old Jessup Road.

Carlos Urena-Valverde, 54, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was pronounced deceased at the scene, police reported.

Urena-Valverde was unloading a shipment when the weight shifted and a large pile of poles fell on him, according to officials.

He was employed by a company called AD Freight Logistics in New Jersey and had been making a delivery to Sunair Awnings in Jessup at the time, police reported.

Authorities said that nobody else was injured, and officials did not think there was any foul play involved.
