HoCo Inmate Taken Back Into Custody: Police

Police said the inmate disappeared from Howard County General Hospital Thursday night and was found Friday.

COLUMBIA, MD — An inmate from the Howard County Detention Center who disappeared while receiving treatment at Howard County General Hospital Thursday night has been located, police said.

Timothy David Powers, 52, was found in Laurel, officials reported Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody without incident.

Timothy David Powers, 52, of no fixed address, was being treated at the hospital in the 5700 block of Cedar Lane in Columbia when he left the facility at 8 p.m. on foot, police reported. Authorities said they did not believe he had access to a vehicle.

Powers was classified as a minimum-security inmate. Court records indicate he was detained awaiting a May trial on burglary and malicious destruction of property charges from July 2015; both are misdemeanors.

Powers is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 175 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing a burgundy sweater and jeans.

Despite searching the area around the hospital and previously known addresses for Powers, officials say they have not been able to find him. There is a warrant out for his arrest.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Timothy David Powers should call 911.
