Knifepoint Robbery, Group Assault, Inn Burglary: Columbia Crime

Burglary at Habitat for Humanity, robbers target cell phones and more crimes were reported to Howard County police recently.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A man was robbed at knifepoint after he gave three other men a ride to the 9000 block of Constant Course. When the driver dropped the trio off at 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 21, one showed a small knife and demanded the victim's wallet and cell phone. The driver complied and the suspects left. Police said that one of the three did not participate in the robbery. Nobody was injured.

A group assaulted a man and robbed him in the 5400 block of Harpers Farm Road. One of the suspects approached the man and demanded his wallet at 8:19 p.m. on Feb. 20, then three other suspects assaulted him. They stole his wallet and cell phone, then fled. Nobody was seriously injured.

Electronics were stolen from a storage room at Hampton Inn in the 7000 block of Minstrel Way. The door was pried open, then three TVs and other items were stolen sometime between Feb. 18 and 20.

Several items were stolen from a residence in the 5300 block of Columbia Road. A rear patio door may have been unlocked in the burglary, which was reported at 9:14 p.m. on Feb. 20.

The front glass window was smashed and cash was stolen from Habitat for Humanity in the 8900 block of McGaw Court. The burglary was reported at 9:12 p.m. on Feb. 19.

A 2015 white Toyota Corolla was stolen from the 9200 block of Pirates Cove. The theft of the vehicle with Maryland registration 3AW2405was reported at 10:04 a.m. on Feb. 19.
