Mall In Columbia Mass Vaccination Site Sets Pace For Most Shots
Since opening last month, the Mall in Columbia mass vaccination site has administered 21,819 doses, the most of the 6 state-supported sites.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Mall in Columbia mass vaccination site has administered 73.7 percent of its allocated first doses, leading the pack among the six state-supported mass vaccination sites. The site has administered 21,819 doses since opening last month and has seen an uptick in first doses administered since last week, due to the authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for children 12-15. An additional 7,020 doses were allocated Tuesday morning by the Maryland Department of Health for the coming week.
“The Mall in Columbia mass vaccination site is working seamlessly to get more and more of our residents and surrounding neighbors vaccinated,” Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. “We know how practical and convenient this site is for our community and our region, especially for our young adults between the ages of 12 and 18. This site has been vital to the region with many of our neighbors traveling to Columbia for its central location to get their vaccine. We continue to work with the state and our community partners to communicate to our residents and businesses how easy and important it is to get vaccinated.”
Howard County residents have obtained almost half of the vaccine at the site (46.8%) while residents from surrounding counties including Montgomery (17.2%), Baltimore (12.1%), Anne Arundel (9.6%) and Prince George’s (5.3%), have received their vaccines at the Mall in Columbia site.
