Man Faces 41 Counts In Nine Columbia Burglaries: Police
Michael James Trefry of Temple Hills entered the same medical official suite three times, according to the Howard County Police Department.
COLUMBIA, MD — A 58-year-old Temple Hills man has been charged with committing nine commercial burglaries targeting medical office suites in Columbia. According to the Howard County Police Department, he broke into the same building on three different occasions.
Michael James Trefry has been charged with 41 counts of burglary, theft and destruction of property in nine cases. The incidents occurred between May and July. Police believe Trefry broke into the Century Plaza office building in the 10600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway June 6, July 11 and July 24. Once inside, he entered several medical office suites by prying open the doors. He entered Dental One Associates of Columbia on all three occasions and stole a safe containing cash once, according to a police report. He entered Elite Chiropractic & Sport twice and stole cash on one occasion. He also entered Shady Grove Fertility and Elegant Dental Care and stole cash from each. He attempted to enter Integrative Family Medicine but was unsuccessful.
Police also charged Trefry in a May 25 burglary of an office building in the 10700 block of Charter Drive. He broke into the building and attempted to enter several medical office suites by prying open the doors, but was unsuccessful and nothing was stolen, according to a police report. Trefry is being held in a neighboring jurisdiction and the Howard County charges have been placed as a detainer. If he is scheduled for release, he will be immediately taken into custody on the Howard County charges.
