Man, Teen Charged With Murder In Columbia Shooting

COLUMBIA, MD — A man and a teenager from District Heights have been charged with murder and armed robbery in the fatal shooting of Montez Case of Columbia, Howard County police said.

The pair are accused in the June 11 fatal shooting of Case, 22; he died two days later at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Police arrested both suspects in District Heights on July 14.

Quillon Ivan Long Jr., 20, and a 15-year-old boy, both of District Heights, are charged with first- and second-degree murder, armed robbery, assault, and related charges. The 15-year-old is being charged as an adult.

Case had arranged online to sell a cell phone and met the two suspects near a convenience store in the 10700 block of Hickory Ridge Road. Investigators believe the two suspects attempted to rob Case, and he was then shot.
