Merriweather Construction Work Begins For 12-Story Building

There was a blast at the Merriweather construction site where cybersecurity giant Tenable will establish its world headquarters.

COLUMBIA, MD — There was a blast in Columbia this week that cleared the way for new development. Construction crews were in the Merriweather area blasting away rocks Thursday afternoon, and the Dowtown Columbia Partnership captured it on video.

The Howard Hughes Corporation is overseeing construction of the building where the new Tenable world headquarters will be.

Tenable is a cybersecurity firm that is currently located in the Columbia Gateway area. It manages cyber risk for government agencies and many companies, including half of the Fortune 500.

The cyber firm plans to move its world headquarters to the Merriweather district by October 2019, where it will take up the top half of the 12-story office building.

Until then, work continues at the site, where some community members looked on in wonder Thursday.

"Looking a bit like a Mythbusters experiment as rocks were cleared in the Merriweather District at the site of the future Tenable building," Downtown Columbia Partnership posted with the above video.
