New Inclusive Preschool Program Now Offered By HCPSS
A new inclusive 3-year-old preschool offered by HCPSS is being co-taught by general and special educators and is the 1st of its kind in HoCo
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A new inclusive preschool pilot program for eligible 3-year-old children living in the Talbott Springs and Stevens Forest Elementary School attendance areas has been launched for this school year.
The program is being co-taught by both general and special educators, making it the first preschool program of its kind in Howard County.
The program curriculum supports early learning and fosters academic, social, emotional and physical development, the school district noted. The half-day pilot program is available at no cost and transportation will be provided to qualifying students.

To be eligible for this program, children must live in either the Talbott Springs or Stevens Forest attendance area and meet one of the following qualifications:
- Age 3 by Sept. 1 and meet first priority criteria, including being income eligible, homeless or in foster care; or
- Age 3 and deemed eligible by an Individualized Education Program team.
Parents/guardians of students deemed eligible for special education and related services will be notified by the IEP team if they are able to participate in this program. No application is needed in this case. Parents/guardians of prospective preschool students who meet first priority criteria must complete an application.
