Nominations Accepted Through Aug. 14 For 2022 Howard County Human Rights Commission Awards
Nominations are being accepted now through Aug. 14 for the 2022 Howard County Human Rights Commission Awards.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Nominations are being accepted for the Howard County Human Rights Commission's 2022 Jim Henson and Jean Toomer Individual, the Dr. Murray Simon Student and the Colette Roberts Organization Awards. Presented annually, these awards honor individuals and community organizations who have made "significant" contributions to human and civil rights in Howard County. The nomination deadline is Aug. 14.
“These awards celebrate courageous Howard County residents and organizations that serve our community through their tireless pursuit of advancing and defending human rights,” Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. “We're looking to our residents to help us identify those in our community who have gone above and beyond and deserve to be recognized by the Howard County Human Rights Commission this year.”
The nomination form can be found online or a hard copy can be requested by contacting the Howard County Office of Human Rights and Equity by calling 410-313-6430 or emailing hrc@howardcountymd.gov. Self-nominations are accepted.
“This past year, outstanding community members have stepped forward to serve, protect and stand in solidarity with residents in our county,” Yolanda F. Sonnier, administrator, Office of Human Rights and Equity, added. “These unsung heroes should be celebrated and acknowledged; therefore, I encourage you to nominate these individuals for a Human Rights Awards.”
Winners will be recognized at the 2022 Human Rights Commission Awards Ceremony Oct. 19 at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center.
