Odor Continues To Emanate From A Barn Fire Involving 2,500 Bales

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The lingering smell of burnt hay continues to drift out from the barn that caught fire July 23 in the 11700 block of Scaggsville Road. The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has been receiving calls about this location and emphasized that they are monitoring the situation. The department responded to the area July 29 when a deep-seated fire within a pile of hay had broken out. More than 2,500 hay bales caught on fire July 23 and additional flare-ups may happen, the department noted.

"Residents might notice an odor of smoke for several days to come. If you observe smoke in the area, please call 911. We are working on this situation with the property owners," the department stated.
