Owen Brown Dognapping, Kings Contrivance Knifepoint Assault: Columbia Crime
Social media meet-up leads to Oakland Mills attack, and more crimes were reported to HCPD recently in Columbia.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia.
A dog and dog bowl were stolen from a fenced-in backyard sometime between 6 and 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 5. The dognapping occurred in the 6500 block of Fruitgift Place in the village of Owen Brown.
A teen who arranged on a social media site to meet someone in Oakland Mills was instead met with three people who assaulted and robbed him. The crime occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 4. When the teen showed up at Farewell Road and Fallen Stone, the person he was meeting showed up with two others. The trio assaulted him and stole his shoes and bracelet. The suspects were described as three black teen boys — one with a beard; one who was short and stocky; and another who was tall and skinny. The victim was not seriously injured.

Shoplifters threatened an employee with a knife in the 8600 block of Guilford Avenue. Two individuals with unpaid merchandise were trying to leave the store at 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 3. When an employee confronted them, they showed a knife and assaulted the employee before leaving. Nobody was seriously injured.
Lumber was stolen from a home under construction in the 8300 block of Lark Brown Road, reported at 11:55 a.m. on Sept. 5.

A 2002 Nissan Xterra was stolen from the 9200 block of Wilbur Court. The theft was reported at 11:18 p.m. on Sept. 3.
A 2014 Nissan Altima was stolen from the 6000 block of Waterloo Road, reported at approximately 7 a.m. on Sept. 3. The vehicle was described as brown with tag MD 8CG5984.
A motorcycle was stolen from the 5400 block of Enberend Terrace, reported at 5:11 a.m. on Sept. 2.
