Police ID Woman Killed Crossing Route 175 in Jessup
Pedestrian error was a factor in the deadly crash Tuesday morning, Howard County police said.

JESSUP, MD – A Baltimore woman died after being hit by a truck in Jessup Tuesday morning, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Janay Dominique Carter, 27, of Price Avenue, was taken to the hospital and pronounced deceased from her injuries, police reported.
Preliminarily, the investigation shows that at 4:47 a.m., a 2009 Dodge Ram hit Carter, who had been trying to cross MD 175, police said. The truck was westbound on MD 175 between Pocomoke Avenue and US 1.

Raymond Slater, 61, of Glen Burnie, was driving the pickup truck, according to police, who reported he was not injured.
For several hours, MD 175 was closed for investigation and cleanup; police said the road reopened by 9 a.m.

Pedestrian error was believed to have been a factor in the crash, and no charges will be filed, according to police.

JESSUP, MD – A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported.
The victim was hit in the area of US 1 at MD 175, the department said in a statement before 5:30 a.m.
First responders took the victim to Howard County General Hospital with injuries that officials said were believed to be life-threatening.
According to police, the driver remained at the scene after the woman was hit.
After 6 a.m., the Howard County Police Department said that MD 175 was closed to westbound traffic in the area.
The road was closed from Pocomoke Avenue to US 1, according to WBAL.
