Pedestrian Robbed on Walking Path: Columbia Crime

Three teens were charged after stolen vehicle was found by patrol officer, Howard County Police Department reported.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Two men demanded the wallet of a pedestrian on a walking path in the 8900 block of Old Montgomery Road. When it turned out the pedestrian was wallet-less, the suspects stole his eyeglasses and a pair of gloves. Nobody was injured in the robbery, which occurred before 5 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Three teens were charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle that an officer came across on patrol on Feb. 6. Noting that it matched the description of a recently stolen vehicle, the officer ran the license plate and confirmed that it had been stolen Feb. 3. Shortly three boys got into the vehicle, and police conducted a traffic stop and arrested three people: a 17-year-old boy from Columbia and two 15-year-old boys from Baltimore.

A residence was burglarized in the 5900 block of Stevens Forest Road. The ground-floor window was broken into but nothing was stolen. The burglary was reported at 6:52 p.m. on Feb. 4.

A 2008 black Volkswagen EOS was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Waning Moon Way at 9:31 a.m. on Feb. 4.

A 2011 Dodge Journey was reported stolen from the 7500 block of Summer Blossom Lane at 8:31 a.m. on Feb. 3.
