The following day, at approximately 2 p.m., he tried unsuccessfully to rob the BP gas station in the 1600 block of York Road in Lutherville, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Police said he approached the counter with his hand under his shirt, as though he was holding a gun, and demanded money and lottery tickets from the cashier, but when he went around the counter, the cashier pushed him away. After two customers entered the store, he left empty-handed, police said.
In connection with the June 17 incident, Tolson has been charged with first and second-degree assault; armed robbery; and use of a handgun to commit a felony, according to court records.
