Police: Columbia Rape Suspect Still at Large, Reward Available
Six months after rape was reported in Columbia apartment, police continue search for suspect info.

Police are asking for help identifying the suspect in a rape reported in Columbia six months ago.
There is a $5,000 reward for information. Call 410-313-STOP.
The rape was reported Jan. 21 at the Columbia Landing Apartments in the 8800 block of Tamar Drive, where a man wearing black sweatpants and no shirt tried to engage a woman in conversation, then pulled her into a vacant apartment, where police said he assaulted and raped her.

In the days that followed, the Howard County Police Department released a sketch of the rape suspect, which authorities are re-releasing now that six months have passed in hopes that somebody will be able to identify him.
Authorities said the suspect was described as follows:

- Black man possibly 30 years or older
- Gold/bleached dreadlocks or braids, approximately 2 to 3 inches in length
- Pronounced cheek bones
- Cheeks appear darker than the rest of his face, which was of medium complexion
- Muscular, medium build
- Wearing black sweatpants and no shirt
Police said the victim, who did not live at the apartment complex, knocked on a stranger’s door after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, seeking assistance. The victim recalled seeing the same man in the area the week before the rape, according to police, who said the suspect may have been staying in the vacant apartment.
