After Hazmat Investigation, Road Reopens In Columbia: Police

Hickory Ridge Road near Howard Community College was closed Wednesday morning temporarily.

COLUMBIA, MD — A section of Hickory Ridge Road was closed for approximately 90 minutes Wednesday morning for a hazardous materials investigation in Columbia, according to officials.

Possibly hazardous waste was located near a bus stop on Hickory Ridge Road around 9:30 a.m.

Investigators determined the package was not hazardous, police reported at 11 a.m.

Hickory Ridge Road, which had been closed between Charter Drive and Campus Drive for the investigation, was reopened.
