Residents Invited To Apply For Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission
The Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is comprised of 17 members, 15 adults and two students, and was established in 1985.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD— Adults and students interested in serving on the Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission are invited to apply for a seat with the group. Adult voting members serve five-year terms and student non-voting members serve one-year terms from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021. The deadline to apply is March 27.
"It is paramount to remember and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, who inspired generations and led a historical movement to ensure equal rights for all," said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in a statement. "I encourage Howard County residents to apply to the board, and be an active voice in planning the annual activities honoring Dr. King."
Comprised of 17 members, 15 adults and two students, the commission was established in 1985 to encourage and coordinate appropriate activities and ceremonies throughout Howard County to honor the birthday, ideals and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In addition, the commission provides assistance to local government and private organizations with respect to the observance of the holiday honoring the birthday of the late Dr. King.

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, 18 years or older for adults and under the age of 18 for students, and able to attend meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Resources Campus, 9820 Patuxent Woods Drive in Columbia.
