Reward Offered For Info About Pregnant Woman's Shooting Death
Rabiah Ahmad, 30, of Columbia was 28 weeks pregnant when she was struck by gunfire in her home Friday and died. Doctors saved her baby girl.
COLUMBIA, MD — The Council on American-Islamic Relations has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of 30-year-old Rabiah Ahmad's killer. The pregnant woman was shot and killed Friday night when someone fired a gun into her Columbia home. Doctors delivered her infant daughter, Ahja, who has been upgraded to stable condition from critical condition. Ahmad was 28 weeks pregnant.
The Howard County Police Department is offering a separate $5,000 reward to anyone with information about the incident.
“Our goal in offering a reward is to encourage anyone with information about this horrific crime to come forward and help deliver justice for Rabiah and her family,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry, who met with the victim’s family Sunday at the hospital. “At this point, there are too many unanswered questions and the community’s help can make a tremendous difference.”

CAIR released a statement from Ahmad's family asking for the public's help in finding her murderer.
"We are asking – no pleading with the fine people of the Howard County community to assist us in finding the person(s) responsible for the murder of our beloved. Because of this senseless act, Rabiah’s little baby girl Ahja is left to fight the battle of her little life. A little precious life who should still be in her Mommy’s womb right now, whole and healthy. This is a great and devastating blow to the entire Ahmad-Najiy-Dawson-Bailey families. This doesn’t make sense. Please help us find Rabiah’s killer. Thank you.”
