The project to improve the bridge over US 29 in Columbia is getting off the ground.

COLUMBIA, MD - Improvements on the bridge over US 29 in Columbia will start on Tuesday, Sept. 5, according to an announcement from Howard County government.

The project calls for installing new lighting, improving security and replacing the bridge’s fence with a colored, spiraling geodesic tube.

There may be closures and lane shifts on Route 29 so contractors can work over the road in off-peak hours.
