Make Note: School Calendar Updated For HCPSS Due To Primary Election Date Change In HoCo

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Because the Maryland Court of Appeals recently moved the primary elections to July 19, the board of education has modified the school calendar for the Howard County Public School System.

Instead of schools and offices being closed June 28 for the primary elections, they now will be open that day and closed July 19. This calendar change will affect primarily the district's summer programs. Schools and offices also will be closed July 4 in recognition of Independence Day.

Additional changes to HCPSS summer programs are below:

BSAP Summer Institute

• June 27 – July 22; 9 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.

Innovative Pathways High School

• June 22 – July 29
• ARL (morning in-person and virtual) Courses: 8 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.
• Long Reach HS (morning in-person and virtual) Courses: 8 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.
• Wilde Lake HS (morning in-person and virtual) Courses: 8:15 a.m. – 1:35 p.m.
• Afternoon Virtual Courses: 1:45 – 4:45 p.m.
• Session I (0.5 credit health or lifetime fitness): June 22 – July 8
• Session II (0.5 credit health or lifetime fitness): July 11 – July 29
• Long Reach HS (morning in-person and virtual) Courses: 8 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.

STARTALK Chinese Language Summer Camp

• July 5 – July 22; 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

There are no changes to the start and end times for the G/T Summer Institutes for Talent Development.
