School Orientations Scheduled For Howard County Students

The student orientations are for students attending a new school this fall, whether it's due to redistricting or moving up to the next level

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — In the hopes of helping students better acclimate to attending a new school under the redistricting plan adopted by Howard County Public School System, there will be a series of orientation nights where they can meet school administrators and learn more about the school. Orientations and open houses for incoming kindergartners will be held in the spring and summer.

  • Bryant Woods: Jan. 23, 6-7 p.m.
  • Clarksville Elementary: Jan. 22, 6-7 p.m.
  • Clemens Crossing: Jan. 23, 7 p.m.
  • Ducketts Lane: Jan. 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Guilford: Jan. 21, 7-8 p.m.
  • Hammond Elementary: Jan. 23, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Ilchester: Jan. 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Longfellow: Jan. 22, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Manor Woods: Jan. 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Northfield: Jan. 21, 7-8:30 p.m.
  • Phelps Luck: Jan 23, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Running Brook: Jan. 22, 7:00-8:30 p.m. (This event is being held at Linden Hall in the Dorsey Search community.)
  • St. John’s Lane: Jan. 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (This event is specifically geared toward families transitioning from Waverly ES.)
  • Stevens Forest: Jan. 22, 6-7 p.m.
  • Swansfield: Jan. 23, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Talbott Springs: Jan. 22, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Thunder Hill: Jan. 23, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Veterans: Jan. 23, 7-8 p.m.
  • Waterloo: Jan. 21, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Bonnie Branch: Jan. 14, 5:30-7 p.m. (Note that there are two parts to this event: 5:30 p.m. orientation for families of new 7th and 8th grade students in the media center. 6 p.m. orientation for families of 6th grade students in the cafeteria.)
  • Burleigh Manor: Jan. 14, 6-7:30 p.m. (Note that the first 30 minutes of this event are a G/T info session. Full orientation starts at 6:30 p.m.)
  • Clarksville Middle: Jan. 16, 5:45-6:45 p.m.
  • Dunloggin: Jan. 16, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Elkridge Landing: Jan. 13, 6-8 p.m.
  • Ellicott Mills: Jan. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Folly Quarter: Jan. 14, 6:30-8 p.m. (Snow date is Jan. 15.)
  • Glenwood: Jan. 16, 6-7 p.m.
  • Hammond Middle: Jan. 15, 6-8 p.m.
  • Harper’s Choice: Jan. 14, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Lake Elkhorn: Jan. 16, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (Rising 6th grade parent orientation will run from 6:30 – 7:30. New families from OMMS are welcome to stay for both meetings. Snow date is Jan. 23.)
  • Lime Kiln: Jan. 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Mayfield Woods: Jan. 14, 5:45-7:30 p.m.
  • Mount View: Jan. 13, 6-7 p.m.
  • Murray Hill: Jan. 13, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Oakland Mills Middle: Jan. 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Patapsco: Jan. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Snow date is Jan. 22.)
  • Patuxent Valley: Jan. 14, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Thomas Viaduct: Jan. 16, 5:30-6:15 p.m. (Following this orientation for new families, we will conduct our Rising 6th grade orientation from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.)
  • Wilde Lake Middle: Jan. 13, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Atholton: Jan. 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Marriotts Ridge: Jan. 9, 6-8 p.m.
  • Mt. Hebron: Jan. 9, 6-8 p.m.
  • Oakland Mills High: Jan. 9, 7-8:15 p.m. (Note that this event is part of OMHS’ Scheduling Extravaganza evening. The new family welcome meeting will be at 7 p.m. followed by the electives fair.)
  • Reservoir: Jan. 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (Snow date is Jan. 16.)
  • River Hill: Jan. 9, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Wilde Lake High: Jan. 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
