Individuals interested in serving on Howard County's public works board should apply by Feb. 11.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Applicants are being sought to fill a seat on the county's public works board. The deadline to apply is Feb. 11.
"This board plays a vital role in advancing reliable and accessible infrastructure for our community by providing recommendations regarding the county’s public works policies and practices,” Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. “I encourage any county resident to apply who is interested in serving our community through the public works board.”
Comprised of five members, the board makes recommendations to the director of public works, the county executive and County Council regarding the plans and policies under the jurisdiction of the department of public works. The executive, at his discretion, or the Council by resolution, may provide for reference to the board for review and recommendations of any matter related to the board's functions and duties.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Howard County resident, 18 years of age or older and be able to attend the board’s meetings, which are held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the George Howard Building located at 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City.
Applicants should send a resume and brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the board to Kimberly Pruim either by email to kpruim@howardcountymd.gov or by mail to: Howard County Government, Office of the County Executive, Attn: Kimberly Pruim, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21043. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the County Executive for approval and then to the County Council for confirmation.
