Sobriety Checkpoint Coming Up in Howard County: Police
Officers will be working on a special detail to stop drunk driving in Howard County this weekend.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint this weekend in Howard County to keep drunk drivers off area roads.
Approximately 35 percent of fatal crashes in the county last year involved alcohol, according to the Howard County Police Department.
This weekend's sobriety checkpoint will be marked with lights, signs and uniformed officers.

In 2015, police in Howard County arrested 891 people for driving under the influence.
The Howard County Police Department did not disclose where the checkpoint would be or when specifically it would occur but did say that it would be in the coming weekend.

In addition to checking for impairment, police will offer information to those who pass through the checkpoint.
