Soup'r Sundae Fundraiser Canceled In Columbia Due To Coronavirus

More than 600 people typically attend Grassroots' Soup'r Sundae fundraiser every year in Columbia, so organizers have called off the event.

COLUMBIA, MD — The multi-service crisis intervention center Grassroots in Columbia has postponed its Soup'r Sundae, an event that brings together more than 600 people. The Online Auction for Soup'r Sundae will continue through the month of March.

"Out of an abundance of caution and concern for your health, Grassroots has decided to postpone Soupr’ Sundae. Due to the COVID-19 virus and the caution about large gatherings, we believe it is better to hold this event at a later date," the shelter posted on its website.

Grassroots provides 24-hour crisis intervention services, emergency and transitional shelter, and community education.
