Student Loan Forum Planned For HCC

From Howard County Government: Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman announced that the county’s Office of Consumer Protection, Consumer Advisory Board and Howard Community College will co-host “Know Before You Owe – A Student Loan Forum and Resource Fair” on Wednesday, January 17 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This free event will be held in the Smith Theater of the Horowitz Center at Howard Community College, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia and is open to the public.

The Student Loan Forum will feature a panel discussion with representatives from Howard Community College, Johns Hopkins University, the Maryland CASH Campaign, and the Office of Consumer Protection highlighting the importance of planning early for children’s higher education.

Panelists will offer guidance to prospective students and families that supports informed decisions on how to finance higher education; shop for student loans; manage money; and avoid consumer scams surrounding higher education. After the panel’s question and answer period, presenters and representatives from additional organizations will be available to provide written materials and answer questions one-on-one.
