Suspect Arrested In Columbia Shooting: Police

A 34-year-old Columbia man has been arrested in the May shooting of another resident.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 34-year-old Columbia man has been arrested in the May shooting of Jaden Ealey, who died almost two weeks later of his injuries sustained in the shooting. Jeremi Quentin Lewis has been charged with first-degree murder and assault, along with numerous weapons violations, reports the Howard County Police Department.

Police were called at approximately 7:10 p.m. May 30 to the 6000 block of Foreland Garth for a report of shots fired. Officers located Ealey, 21, behind an Exxon gas station suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition and later died.

The shooting was captured on surveillance video and police identified Lewis as the shooter. Detectives do not believe the shooting was random. Lewis was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Columbia.
