Taxi Driver Robbed in Columbia After Trip from Silver Spring: Columbia Crime

Howard County police said two burglaries and two robberies were reported in recent days.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Anyone with information may contact Howard County police at 410-313-STOP or HCPDcrimetips@howardcountymd.gov. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

A residence in the 9500 block of Clocktower Lane was burglarized. The break-in occurred through a basement window, reported after 8 p.m. on Nov. 14.

Three friends were robbed at gunpoint in the 8800 block of Centre Park Drive at 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 13. Two men approached the group as they were leaving a convenience store, at which point one suspect threatened them with a handgun and ordered them to surrender their belongings. One of the victims did, and the suspects left. There were no injuries.

A taxi driver was robbed in the 10800 block of Bird Song Pass after a person he had driven from Silver Spring to Columbia did not pay for his fare. Instead, the suspect assaulted the driver at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 when they arrived in Columbia. Then he stole the driver's wallet and took off. There were no serious injuries. The suspect was described as a thin black man who was about 6'1" tall, wearing black pants and a dark hoodie.

Two bicycles were stolen from a garage in the 6300 block of Gray Sea Way between Nov. 8 and 10. The garage door was pried so the burglar(s) could get to the bikes.
