Teen Suspects Arrested In Robbery, Carjacking: Police

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old are suspected of committing a Feb. 21 robbery and a Feb. 28 carjacking.

COLUMBIA, MD — Howard County police officers arrested two teenagers they believe is responsible for two separate robbery and carjacking incidents in Columbia. According to the Howard County Police Department, the 15-year-old and 16-year-old males are suspected of committing a Feb. 21 robbery in the 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way and a Feb. 28 carjacking in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court.

During the robbery, a male taxi driver reported that he dropped off two male suspects at Monarch Mills Way. Before getting out of the vehicle, the suspects assaulted him and stole cash. No serious injuries were reported. In the carjacking, a man reported that he was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects with their faces partially covered who indicated they had a gun, threatened him and demanded he turn over his vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects drove off in the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered later that night in a neighboring jurisdiction. No one was injured.

In a separate incident, on March 5 shortly before 2 p.m. in the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, a man had arranged online to purchase a video game system in person at the aforementioned location. The victim gave the two suspects cash for the purchase, but he was not given the video game system. The male suspects showed a gun and took off in a vehicle.

During the course of an investigation, officers arrested Jamaal Tavon Talbert, 24, and Nandi Kira Roberson, 24, both of Connecticut Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., and charged them with armed robbery, robbery, assault and a weapon violation. The Howard County Police Department reminds residents that there are three designated safe places where they can conduct transactions arranged online. Designated parking spaces, marked with yellow signs, are available at the Northern District Station at 3410 Court House Drive, Ellicott City; and Southern District Station at 11226 Scaggsville Road, Laurel; and Community Outreach at 10471 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Individuals may also use the lobby of each station.
