Three Carjackings In Three Days Reported In Columbia: Police

Two of the three carjackings in Columbia involved teenagers, according to the Howard County Police Department.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Police officers responded to three carjackings occurring in three consecutive days recently; two involved teenage suspects. According to the Howard County Police Department, one carjacking happened Feb. 28 at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court. A man told police he was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by two men with their faces partially covered. They indicated they had a gun, threatened him and demanded he turn over his vehicle to them. The man got out of his vehicle and the suspects took off in it. The vehicle was recovered later that night in a neighboring jurisdiction. In this case, two men in their early 20s are being sought by police.

A second carjacking was reported Feb. 29 after 1 a.m. in the 6000 block of Foreland Garth. A man told police that three men followed him to his vehicle. When the man climbed into his vehicle, the suspects pulled out a gun, assaulted the driver and attempted to steal his vehicle before they took off. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. In this case, two men in their mid-20s and one teenager is being sought by police.

On March 1, a woman at her vehicle was approached by three men, one who pulled out a gun or a stun gun, she told police. the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. in the 7300 block of Oakland Mills Road. The suspects demand her keys and took off in her 2006 Toyota Corolla with tags MD/3AL9248. The suspects are three teenage males, she reported.
