Veep to Move Production from Maryland to California
Producers with HBO series say they are relocating from Maryland, leaving Columbia sound stage behind, for fifth season.

HBO has confirmed to media outlets that its production of Veep is leaving Maryland.
The show will film its fifth season in Los Angeles, according to WBAL.
The Emmy-award-winning production filmed its pilot in Maryland in early 2011 and has had its production base here ever since.

Veep has a sound stage in Columbia off Snowden River Parkway in an old General Electric building, and politicians representing Howard County told The Baltimore Sun they were concerned about the economic impact of losing the show. Delegate Frank Turner told the paper that the Texaco station around the corner had a significant amount of business from the production being located nearby.
Lawmakers said they encouraged Gov. Larry Hogan to extend the state’s tax credit program for filmmakers, which has lured House of Cards and Veep to film in Maryland. The tax credit program will end unless Hogan signs an extension in July.
California recently offered a tax credit to move its production there, according to Variety, which said the state set aside $25 million to lure shows from out-of-state, offering American Horror Story, Secrets and Lies, Veep and Hindsight a $6.5 million piece of the pie.
