Violent Wilde Lake Robbery Reported: Columbia Crime
A street robbery and commercial burglary were reported in the last day in Columbia, according to the Howard County Police Department.

COLUMBIA, MD — The Howard County Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in Columbia. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
A group assaulted a teen, then stole his cash and cell phone in the village of Wilde Lake. The incident occurred on Lynx Lane at Twin Rivers Road at 7:32 p.m. on March 28. Despite the assault, police said the 16-year-old victim was not seriously injured in the robbery. There were at least four suspects involved, both men and women, in their late teens or early 20s.
A vacant business in the 9200 block of Rumsey Road was broken into by prying open the back door. Nothing seemed to have been stolen in the burglary, which occurred between March 24 and March 28.

Police charged a 29-year-old Beltsville man in connection with a burglary that happened in the 8400 block of Gresytone Lane on March 1. In that case, a resident said a man kicked in her front door, went into her residence, and when she confronted him, he ran away. Through investigation, police identified the suspect as the Prince George's County man. Court records show he was arrested on March 25 and charged with third-degree burglary; fourth-degree residential burglary; and malicious destruction of property up to $1,000. He posted bond and was released and is slated to appear in Howard County District Court on May 10.
