Virginia Woman Found At Howard County Truck Stop Wasn't Abducted

A woman believed to have been taken against her will in Virginia was found at a truck stop in Jessup. Police now say she went willingly.

JESSUP, MD — A woman believed to have been taken against her will from Virginia Thursday and later found at a truck stop in Howard County is okay, authorities say. Howard County Police believe “the initial report of an abduction was incorrect,” WTOP reports.

According to the Howard County Police Department, a truck driver was in custody but has since been released. Fox 5's chopper was on the scene when the truck driver was apprehended.

Police have been dispatched to this particular truck stop numerous times in the past. Patch reported on a prostitution ring operating out of the truck stop in which women were assaulted and drugged to perform sex acts for money without sleep. Three men faced federal charges after authorities said they confiscated 41 kilograms of suspected heroin from them at the same Jessup truck stop.
