Volunteers From District 1 Needed To Serve On Howard County Board Of Education

Individuals interested in filling the District 1 vacancy left on the Howard County Board of Education should apply by Feb. 10.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Volunteers from District 1 are needed to serve on the Howard County Board of Education to fill the vacancy left with Christina Delmont-Small's resignation from the board effective immediately. The deadline to apply falls on Feb. 10.

“I want to thank Christina Delmont-Small for her years of service to the Howard County Board of Education and her advocacy on behalf of our students, families and educators,” Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. “If you are someone who shares the goal of ensuring our children are career and college-ready and supporting educators in fostering the best teaching and learning environment for all, I encourage you to apply today.”

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be Howard County residents residing in Councilmanic District 1, 18 years of age or older, have an interest in public education and be able to attend the board’s meetings, public hearings and work sessions.

Interested applicants should email Paul Thompson at ApplyBC@howardcountymd.gov with the name of the board which they seek appointment, their home address and contact information. Included with the email, applicants should attach their resume and a brief letter explaining why they want to serve on the Howard County Board of Education. Applicants are asked not to include their contact information, i.e., home address, phone number(s) and email address, on their resume and cover letter. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the county executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
