Weather Service Issues Flash Flood Watch for Columbia

Heavy rain is in the weekend forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for much of Maryland, including Howard County, from 2 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.

Heavy rains are expected, with 1 to 3 inches anticipated, according to the weather service.

Already wet conditions have increased the potential for flash floods, so the weather service advises keeping an eye on streams, creeks and urban areas.
