Military Leaders Serve Over 500 Thanksgiving Meals
Dinners were served to Fort Meade service members who could not go home for the holiday.
For three hours on Thursday, military leaders at Fort Meade donned aprons and toques to serve Thanksgiving dinner.
While many people celebrated Thanksgiving at home with family and all the Thanksgiving dinner trimmings, not everyone was able to do so.
Military leaders took to their serving stations Thursday and dished up dinner for over 500 service members, retirees and visiting family at Fort Meade who weren’t able to make it home for Thanksgiving, according to The Baltimore Sun.

“It’s a wonderful, symbolic gesture we do every year,” Col. Brian P. Foley, garrison commander at Fort Meade, told the news outlet. “It’s our way of showing them how much we value their service.”
Preparation for the meal began on Sunday, the newspaper reports, and the meal encompassed over 220 pounds of turkey, 120 pounds of roast beef, 80 pounds of shrimp and 90 pounds of crab legs.
